Major General Dr. Priyanto, S.IP., M.Si. (Han) is currently serving as the Dean of Defense Management at the Republic of Indonesia Defense University (Unhan RI). He was born in Magelang on March 30, 1968. He completed elementary school in 1980, junior high school in 1983, and senior high school in 1986. He graduated from the Indonesian Military Academy (Akmil) in Magelang in 1989. In 2000, he earned his Bachelor's degree (S1) in Government Studies from Universitas Terbuka. In 2014, he pursued a Master’s degree (S2) in the Total War Strategy program at the Faculty of Defense Strategy, Defense University, which he completed in 2016. In 2018, he continued his doctoral studies (S3) at the Doctoral Program of the Defense University, concentrating in Defense Science.
He began his military career in 1989 as a commissioned officer in the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI). Throughout his career, he has held various strategic positions, including Head of Personnel Section at the General Bureau of the Defense University, Secretary of the Institute for Research, Community Service, and Publication (LPPPM) of the Defense University, Director of Defense Resources at the Directorate General of Defense Potential in the Ministry of Defense, Chief of the General Bureau at the Defense University, and Dean of the Faculty of Defense Strategy at the Defense University.
He has participated in various military training programs, including the Indonesian Army Command and Staff College (SESKOAD) in 2002, as well as specialized training such as Susdanyon, Susdandenintel, Susdandim, Susintelstrat, and training at the National Security College (NSC) in Australia. His international assignments have taken him to countries such as China, the United States, India, Japan, Sweden, and Myanmar.
As a lecturer, he actively engages in teaching, research, and community service, which are the three pillars of higher education in Indonesia (Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi). He began his teaching career as a military instructor at the Army Air Defense Education Center (Pusdik Arhanud) in 1999 and has served as a permanent lecturer at the Defense University since 2018.
In addition to his role as Dean of the Faculty of Defense Management, he currently teaches Territorial Defense Strategy (SPT) in the Universal Warfare Strategy Program (SPS), Faculty of Defense Strategy, and Defense Management in the Defense Management Study Program, Faculty of Defense Management, at the Republic of Indonesia Defense University.
He is also active as a keynote speaker at various national and international seminars, focus group discussions (FGDs), and as a resource person in numerous academic and training programs. In 2022, he served as the head of the Indonesian delegation in the Track II Network of ASEAN Defense and Security Institutions (NADI).
In June 2025, he was awarded 2nd place in the Essay Competition commemorating the 100th Anniversary of Revolutionary Hero D.I. Pandjaitan.
